Removes a direct member from a team. They lose anything that reached them only through this team and the teams above it. They keep access they hold directly or through another team. The person stays a member of your organisation. You can only remove direct members. Someone who belongs through a sub-team must be removed from that sub-team. You cannot remove people from a team synced from a Slack channel. Remove them from the channel instead, and the next sync takes them off the team.

Authentication

Requires an API key, or an OAuth token with directory:admin. The caller must also be an organisation admin, or hold a role with the matching permission. directory:admin is never granted by default. It only narrows what the person who approved it can already do, so a team admin’s token can edit their own teams and nothing else. Admin changes are not available through the MCP server. An admin of the team can also remove members.

Response

Returns 204 with no body. Removing someone who is not on the team also returns 204 and changes nothing.
